A 34-year-old man, Abdulazeez Olatunji Ojoro, was tragically killed in what appears to be a rival cult attack in the Oluwo area of Adigbe, Abeokuta, Ogun State. The incident occurred on Sunday, February 24, 2025, around 10:10 PM.
Police investigations suggest that Abdulazeez’s death may be tied to his alleged involvement in the local drug trade. After receiving a distress call about a shooting, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Adigbe dispatched a team of detectives to the scene. Upon arrival, the officers found Abdulazeez’s body in a pool of blood, with fatal gunshot wounds to his left eye and right chest, indicating the shots were fired at close range.
The assailants, suspected members of a rival cult group, fled the scene before the police arrived. Abdulazeez’s body has been taken to a mortuary, while authorities have intensified patrols in the area to prevent further violence and capture the perpetrators.
The Ogun State Police Command condemned the violence and reaffirmed its stance against cultism and illicit drug activities, urging those involved in such crimes to abandon their involvement. The police also appealed to the public for information that could help bring the culprits to justice.
