The Ekiti State Police have arraigned a 50-year-old man, Ladan Abubakar, before a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ado-Ekiti for alleged unlawful grazing of cattle.
Abubakar, who has no fixed address, is facing a one-count charge for allowing his cattle to graze in a restricted area. According to the police prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, the incident occurred on April 1 at about 7:30 a.m. in Ewu-Ekiti.
The prosecutor said the act violated Section 2 and is punishable under Section 7 of the Ekiti State Prohibition of Cattle and Other Ruminants Grazing Law.
Inspector Oriyomi requested an adjournment to allow time for a case file review and to assemble witnesses. As of the time of reporting, the court had not ruled on the bail application or set a date for the next hearing.
