The Oyo State Police Command has uncovered a human trafficking operation in Ibadan, the state capital.
Officers raided a building in the Orogun area, rescuing 83 people and a child who were being held against their will.
Initial findings indicate the victims, believed to be from the Democratic Republic of Congo, were brought to Nigeria under false promises of job opportunities.
Reports also suggest that large sums of money, allegedly in dollars, were extorted from their families as part of the scam.
The rescued victims are now in safe custody at the Police Headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, as investigations continue.
