Nine surveyors who were abducted in Ilu-Abo, a community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, about a week ago, have been freed after a N20 million ransom was paid.
The surveyors were kidnapped while working on a site when the abductors struck. The kidnappers contacted the victims’ families and demanded a N100 million ransom.
Market women reportedly appealed to the kidnappers to reduce the ransom to N50 million, but their initial offer was rejected.
A High Chief in the Akure kingdom, Oluwole Omotayo, confirmed their release, stating that all the victims were in good health and had been reunited with their families.
