Enugu Resident Charged for Alleged Property Fraud After Viral Church Testimony

Loveth Helen Alo, 32, has been arraigned before the Enugu North Magisterial District Court for allegedly making false claims about owning a five-bedroom duplex at WTC Estate, Enugu.

According to SP Daniel Ndukwe, spokesperson for the Enugu State Police Command, Alo was arrested on February 1, 2025, following a petition accusing her of fabricating the claim.

Alo had testified at Zion Prayer Ministry Movement Outreach in Lagos, claiming that God blessed her with the house—an event that was used by Evangelist Ebuka Obi as a faith-inspiring story. However, investigations later revealed that she worked at a small shop selling drinks and had no connection to the property.

During questioning, she admitted to making up the testimony. She now faces five charges, including obtaining by false pretenses, defamation of character, and attempting to commit a felony by trying to sell the property.

The court granted her bail, and the case has been adjourned to April 9, 2025, for further proceedings.
