Suspected Boko Haram militants have killed a 32-year-old vigilante, Modu Bulama, and set fire to 12 rooms and eight shops during an attack on Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.
According to sources, the attackers stormed Gujba town late Saturday night while residents were asleep, searching door-to-door for vigilante members. One resident revealed that Bulama was shot and killed as he attempted to flee.
Dr. Goje Muhammad, Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), confirmed the attack and extended condolences to the victims.
“Our assessment found that 14 households, totaling about 57 individuals, were directly impacted. A total of 12 rooms and eight shops—mostly owned by business owners and local vigilante members—were destroyed by fire,” he stated.
“Sadly, a 32-year-old vigilante lost his life, leaving behind two wives and seven children.”
