President Tinubu Hosts Senate Leadership for Ramadan Iftar

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday hosted the leadership of the Senate to an Iftar, the traditional breaking of the Ramadan fast, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

During the gathering, Vice President Kashim Shettima emphasized the need for unity and collaboration among political leaders to sustain the progress made through the administration’s ongoing reforms.

According to a statement by his spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima highlighted the economic improvements witnessed under Tinubu’s leadership, including falling food prices, declining petrol costs, and stability in the foreign exchange market. He noted that these developments reflect the success of the president’s bold policies, predicting that the economy would grow by 4.3 to 4.6 percent in 2025.

“We are one big family, irrespective of political affiliations, religious persuasions, tribe, or sectional background. What unites us supersedes whatever divides us,” Shettima told the lawmakers, assuring continued collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government.

Speaking on behalf of the Senate, Senate President Godswill Akpabio expressed appreciation for President Tinubu’s support of the 10th Senate, including his approval of key legislation. He reaffirmed the Senate’s commitment to working closely with the executive to advance the Renewed Hope Agenda and ensure effective governance.

Akpabio also prayed for divine wisdom and good health for the president and vice president, pledging that the Senate would continue to provide strong representation for the Nigerian people.

Senator Abdulaziz Yar’Adua of Katsina State led prayers for national unity and wisdom for the country’s leaders.

The event was attended by top senators, including Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, Minority Leader Abba Moro, former Senate President Ahmed Lawan, and Senate Chief Whip Mohammed Monguno.
