Enugu State Removes Restrictions On Gaming License Renewals

Enugu government lifts ban on gaming licence renewal

The Enugu State Gaming and Lotto Commission has announced the removal of restrictions on license renewals for gaming operators as part of ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening the industry and promoting responsible gaming practices.

The commission’s Executive Secretary, Arinze Arum, shared this update in a statement released by the commission’s spokesperson, Nwanneka Udeh.

Mr. Arum explained that a new technology-driven platform has been launched to streamline the license renewal process and other services, improving efficiency and ensuring better compliance.

“With the lifting of restrictions, gaming operators can now easily update their licenses through the newly introduced Enugu State Gaming Regulatory Platform. This digital solution offers faster approvals, improved compliance monitoring, and a secure licensing process,” he said.

As part of its reforms, the commission has set up gaming offices in all 17 local government areas of Enugu State and hired gaming inspectors to enhance compliance monitoring. Additionally, an official Gaming Approval Signage has been introduced for licensed operators.

“We are also enforcing the use of permanent structures for gaming outlets, moving away from makeshift stands,” Mr. Arum added.

The commission also announced upcoming initiatives, including the Rangers FC Dream Big Raffle and various Good Cause Projects, which are expected to launch soon.

Mr. Arum further highlighted that the Enugu State Gaming Regulatory Platform, developed in partnership with Goflux Services Limited, will automate compliance monitoring and improve revenue collection through digital payment channels.

“This is a significant step forward for the industry. We are committed to using technology to enhance regulatory efficiency, increase revenue, and ensure fairness in gaming operations. The Enugu State Gaming and Lotto Commission urges all gaming operators to utilize the seamless online license renewal process and fully comply with the new regulatory guidelines,” Mr. Arum concluded.
