Nigerian Nurses Face Deportation From UK Over Alleged Test Fraud

Nigerian nurses under investigation for ?exam fraud? ordered to leave UK

Several Nigerian nurses under investigation for alleged fraud at a UK test center have been ordered to leave the country, even as their appeals remain unresolved, according to Nursing Times.

The UK Home Office has revoked their visas following allegations from the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), which claims that hundreds of Nigerian nurses may have fraudulently obtained their Computer-Based Test (CBT) results at Yunnik Technologies Test Centre in Ibadan.

Advocacy groups and legal representatives have accused the NMC of intentionally delaying hearings to facilitate deportations. However, the regulator denies any deliberate delays, insisting it is working to resolve cases fairly and efficiently.

Legal representatives, including Broad Street Solicitors and Nurses Across the Borders, have demanded that the NMC collaborate with the Home Office to halt deportations until appeals are concluded. They also seek a full reconsideration of affected cases after a successful appeal reinstated one nurse who was initially removed from the register.

Despite ongoing legal battles, the NMC insists that statistical irregularities at the test center justify its investigation and continues to assess cases individually. Meanwhile, affected nurses face imminent deportation, sparking further controversy over the fairness of the process.
