Nurse Testifies On Events Leading To Mohbad’s Death

At the ongoing coroner’s inquest into the tragic death of Nigerian musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad, an auxiliary nurse, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, provided a detailed account of the events surrounding the singer’s final hours.

Ogedengbe explained that she was contacted by Ayobami Sodiq, a friend of Mohbad, on September 11, 2023, to administer a tetanus injection to Mohbad, who had reportedly sustained an injury to his hand. Upon arriving at the singer’s residence the following day, Ogedengbe identified Mohbad and began her treatment. She administered a combination of paracetamol and ceftriaxone injections, and observed an unusual reaction when Mohbad later complained of nausea and developed goosebumps.

The nurse explained that after seeing Mohbad’s condition worsen, she and Ayobami went to a pharmacy to obtain further treatment. However, upon returning, they were informed that Mohbad had already been moved to the hospital. Despite the difficult conditions caused by heavy traffic, they struggled to get him medical assistance, eventually taking him to two hospitals, where he was later pronounced dead.

Ogedengbe expressed shock and confusion at the events, stating that she had done her best to follow proper medical procedures and sought treatment for Mohbad as soon as possible. The case has been adjourned to March 21, 2025, for further hearing, as the investigation into the cause of Mohbad’s death continues.
