Security forces have successfully foiled an attack by suspected bandits in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State, the police confirmed on Sunday, March 16.

In a statement, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, spokesperson for the Katsina State Police Command, revealed that the operation took place on Saturday, March 15, with support from the Department of State Services (DSS) and members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC).

According to Sadiq, the bandits were preparing to attack Dan Takuri village when security forces acted on intelligence. The operatives swiftly moved to Maijele Mountain, where the suspected bandits had gathered, leading to a violent gunfight. One bandit was neutralized, and several others managed to escape with injuries.

The security personnel seized an AK-47 rifle with ammunition, a motorcycle, suspected Indian hemp, soft drinks, a cutlass, and other dangerous substances from the scene.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, praised the operatives for their professionalism and courage, reaffirming the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property. He assured residents that security agencies in the state remain steadfast in their efforts to maintain peace and stability.
