2027 Presidency: Kenneth Okonkwo Advocates for Single-Term Leadership

2027: I?ll support anyone willing to leave office after four years ? Kenneth Okonkwo

Kenneth Okonkwo, the former spokesperson for the Labour Party’s presidential campaign, has stated that he would support either a Southerner or a Northerner willing to step down after one four-year term. The actor-turned-politician explained that his decision is rooted in fairness and equity between the Northern and Southern regions, in line with the unwritten rule of rotational presidency.

“Everyone should come together. This is something that can be discussed. Who will serve the four years will influence who I support, as I still believe in equity and justice,” he said in an interview on Channels Television.

Okonkwo, who resigned from the Labour Party in February, also mentioned he was open to joining a coalition aimed at unseating President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming election. He criticized the APC government as incompetent and stressed that the opposition must form a united front to challenge the current administration.

“My plan is simple: If the opposition is serious about removing this incompetent government, they must unite and act as one. This is exactly what the APC did in 2013, which helped them win in 2015,” he said.

“I believe in coalitions. When I left, I made it clear that I am open to discussions with any group to strengthen the opposition and remove this government,” Okonkwo added.
