                  Reps donate N705 million from their salaries to support FG?s humanitarian efforts

Members of the House of Representatives have donated N705 million from their salaries to support the humanitarian efforts of President Bola Tinubu. This amount represents a 50% salary deduction for six months, according to a statement issued by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Communications, on March 17, 2025.

The donation was made on the evening of March 17, when President Tinubu hosted the leadership and members of the House of Representatives for Iftar (the breaking of the Ramadan fast) at the New Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

In his remarks, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, explained that the lawmakers’ contribution is intended to assist vulnerable Nigerians. “On behalf of the House of Representatives, the Hon. Speaker donated the sum of N705,000,000 (Seven Hundred and Five Million Naira), which is a six-month 50% salary deduction to support President Tinubu’s humanitarian initiatives and to help the country’s vulnerable population,” the presidency’s statement noted.
