Gunmen have assassinated Muhammad Adamu, the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in the Barikin Ladi area of Plateau State.
Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, the state chairman of MACBAN, confirmed the incident, revealing that Adamu was shot and killed at his residence in Barikin Ladi town after breaking his fast on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. Babayo condemned the attack and urged security agencies to thoroughly investigate the crime and apprehend the perpetrators.
Alhaji Danjuma Ibrahim, a youth leader in the community, also confirmed the incident, stating that the deceased’s body had been taken to the Barikin Ladi General Hospital, with burial arrangements set for Thursday. Danjuma noted that this was the third attempt on Adamu’s life by gunmen, though previous attacks had failed.
“The gunmen attacked him and shot him multiple times. He had bullet wounds on his body. After the shooting, they fled the scene. Security forces, including police and soldiers, responded quickly as we were with them at the hospital when he was rushed in,” he said.
The youth leader expressed deep sorrow over the attack, describing Adamu as a key figure in promoting peace in the Barikin Ladi area. “His death will be deeply felt, as he played a crucial role in maintaining peace in the community,” he added.
