The Nigerian music industry yesterday bids farewell to one of its most iconic figures, Onyeka Onwenu, affectionately known as the “Elegant Stallion” who passed away on July 30 at the age of 72 at Reddington Hospital, Ikeja
The legendary singer was laid to rest after a heartfelt funeral service at the Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, Lagos News360 Nigeria reports.
The funeral service was a solemn and emotional event, attended by her family, friends, and numerous colleagues from the entertainment industry. After the service, mourners gathered at Ebony Vaults in Ikoyi to pay their final respects before she was laid to rest.
Tributes have poured in from all corners, celebrating Onwenu’s immense contributions to Nigerian music and her steadfast dedication to social justice. She is survived by her two sons, who, along with her legacy, carry forward her memory.
