The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, has dismissed rumors that he collapsed and was flown abroad for medical treatment, calling the claims baseless and politically motivated.
While inspecting ongoing projects in the FCT in Abuja, Wike responded to the rumors, saying, “I don’t want to give attention to those spreading false rumors. First of all, I am a human being, not a ghost. If someone collapses, it’s a human being, not a ghost. Unfortunately, I did not collapse, nor did I show any signs of health issues.”
He explained, “Let me clarify what happened. The former Head of Service in Rivers State revealed details about plans to bomb the House of Assembly complex and attack national assets. To divert attention from these serious matters, they spread a rumor about me being flown overseas. There was never a time I collapsed or was taken to the hospital.”
Wike emphasized that he has remained fully engaged in his responsibilities, noting that he has attended several public events, including leading Abuja residents to the Presidential Villa and participating in the President’s Iftar event.
He accused political opponents of fabricating the story to distract from important national issues, adding, “I will sign their condolences.”
