Dr Moses Okino, President, the Forum of Economic Rights Activists (FERA) has launched a scathing attack on the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, for criticizing the economic policies of the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
In a statement signed by Dr. Okino, FERA denounced Obi’s recent appearance on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme, where he allegedly talked down the current administration’s economic achievements.
Dr. Okino described Obi’s perception about Tinubu’s reforms as “amateurish” and “dishonest,” arguing that he deliberately distorted facts to suit his own narrative.
The group also disagreed with Obi’s claim that corruption has not been effectively tackled, citing the abolition of the petrol subsidy as a significant milestone in the fight against corruption.
The statement further excoriated Obi for his alleged attempts to rewrite his history as a governor, warning Nigerians to be wary of his “web of deceit” and “revisionism” politics.
“The Forum of Economic Rights Activists (FERA) is however not surprised at Peter Obi’s posturing, which we believe is aimed at rewriting his history as the most terrible governor to have presided over Anambra State.
“Our counsel to those who still believe the rants of the Labour Party’s candidacy is for them to
step back and critically assess the situation.
“It is on this note that we caution Peter Obi to explore other options for seeking relevance ahead of the 2027 General Elections and stop his attempt at revisionism, which has exposed his desperation.
“It then becomes obvious that Peter Obi is no longer able to brand himself as a businessman, having run his enterprises aground and neither can he be correctly described as a politician anymore since he has done his best to destroy the Labour Party.
“We tell him confidently that should any political party allocate him a presidential ticket for 2027, he would poll even lesser than he did in 2023, because Nigerians have seen through his style of politics,” the statement added.
