Nollywood Remembers Jnr Pope, Crew Members A Year After Tragic Loss

A year after Nollywood actor John Paul Odonwodo, popularly known as Jnr Pope, and four other crew members tragically lost their lives in a boating accident, the film industry gathered to honor their memories. On April 10, 2024, the group perished when their boat capsized while returning from a movie shoot, leaving the industry in mourning.

To commemorate the first anniversary of the tragedy, a memorial service was held at St. Johnbosco Catholic Church in Asaba. Filmmaker Stanley Ontop shared updates on the solemn event via Instagram, posting photos of mourners dressed in black as they prayed for the departed souls. The heartfelt caption read:

“Live at Junior Pope and others memorial service happening live in Asaba. St Johnbosco Catholic Church Asaba. Nollywood in their mass came out to honor their own. I pray God give JP, Abigail, Olanti, Friday, and Precious eternal rest. Amen. Till we meet again. It’s well.”

The service was a poignant reminder of the lives lost and the enduring impact they had on Nollywood. May their souls rest in peace.
