FG Dismisses Claims Of Bias In Tinubu’s Appointments

The Federal Government has refuted claims that President Bola Tinubu’s political appointments favor the South-West, describing the allegations as baseless and misleading.

The accusations, which have stirred public debate, were raised by critics who argue that the president’s appointments do not reflect Nigeria’s ethnic and regional diversity. Among them is Senator Ali Ndume of Borno South, who on Monday accused the administration of violating the federal character principle outlined in Section 14(3) of the 1999 Constitution. Ndume asserted that the president’s selection of key officials lacks equitable national representation.

In response, Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), released a statement on Friday, April 11, dismissing the criticisms as “unfounded speculations.” He emphasized that all appointments made by President Tinubu comply with the federal character provisions and are rooted in fairness, justice, and national interest.

“President Tinubu remains committed to the unity and progress of Nigeria,” the statement read. “His appointments are guided by the principles of inclusivity and equal representation across all regions and demographics.”

The OSGF urged Nigerians to disregard misinformation and rely on official sources for accurate updates. Imohiosen also warned against the divisive rhetoric of those promoting sectionalism, accusing them of “poking the embers of hate and disunity.”

He encouraged concerned citizens to direct any questions or complaints to appropriate government channels, assuring that the administration is dedicated to building a prosperous and united Nigeria under its Renewed Hope agenda.

Despite ongoing scrutiny, the presidency insists that its approach to governance remains inclusive and fully aligned with constitutional requirements.
