The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly and Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, Adebo Ogundoyin, has denied any involvement in school or building projects outside the state, as well as any role in the planning or hosting of the 46th Alaafin of Oyo’s coronation ceremony.

This denial was issued in a statement on Friday by his Chief Press Secretary, Oyetunji Oyekunle, who described the circulating rumors as false and misleading. The statement, titled “FAKE NEWS,” condemned attempts to damage the Speaker’s reputation and misinform the public. It also reaffirmed Ogundoyin’s continued dedication to the people of Oyo State.

“It has come to our attention that certain malicious rumors and speculations have been circulating regarding the Rt. Hon Speaker’s involvement in community projects,” the statement began. “As responsible public servants, we are committed to transparency and accountability to the people we serve. Therefore, we categorically state: The Rt. Hon Speaker has not initiated or contributed to any school or building project outside of Oyo State. He was not involved in the planning of the 46th Alaafin of Oyo’s coronation and did not invite any of the guests in attendance.”

Oyekunle also urged the public to disregard the false information being spread by what he termed “divisive elements.” He further emphasized, “We encourage those spreading misinformation to cease their efforts to sow discord among us, as we remain focused on serving the people of Oyo State.”

The statement concluded by reiterating Ogundoyin’s commitment to developmental projects directly benefiting Oyo State residents and his determination not to be distracted by baseless accusations. The clarification comes amidst increasing political debates surrounding traditional institutions and developmental issues within the state.
