Key stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Borno State on Sunday reaffirmed their unwavering support for President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and Governor Babagana Zulum.
The declaration was made during a high-level party meeting convened by Governor Zulum in Maiduguri, where the stakeholders also pledged continued loyalty to the party’s ideals and leadership.
A communiqué issued after the meeting, signed by APC State Chairman Bello Ayuba and Secretary Mustapha Loskuri, emphasized the stakeholders’ full confidence in the Tinubu-Shettima administration and Zulum’s leadership in Borno.
They urged Vice President Shettima to remain steadfast in promoting the policies of the current administration and encouraged Governor Zulum to stay focused on the state’s recovery and development efforts.
Reaffirming Borno’s identity as a stronghold of the APC, the stakeholders rejected any plans for a political merger or switch to another party. They called on party members to uphold unity, avoid divisive actions, and remain committed to APC principles.
The stakeholders also appealed to the national leadership of the APC to strengthen internal democracy and party structures to maintain the party’s dominance.
While dismissing efforts by certain individuals to cause division within the party, they reiterated their commitment to party unity and progress in Borno.
Additionally, they called on the Federal Government to continue its support for development and security initiatives in the state. They also urged President Tinubu to sustain oil exploration in the Northeast, especially in Kolmani and Lake Chad, and to invest in road infrastructure to boost regional security and economic development.
The meeting was attended by prominent figures including APC Deputy National Chairman (North) Ali Bukar Dalori, Senate Chief Whip Sen. Mohammed Tahir Monguno, Sen. Mohammed Ali Ndume, Sen. Kaka Shehu Lawan, former governor Sen. Maina Ma’aji Lawan, and former ambassadors Baba Ahmed Jidda and Dauda Danladi.
Others in attendance included members of the National Assembly, Borno State House of Assembly, local government chairmen, commissioners, advisers, and other top APC leaders and government officials.
