Court Throws Out Case Against Oyo King

      Oba Francis Alao

An Oyo State High Court in Ibadan has dismissed a suit challenging the nomination and installation of Oba Francis Olushola Alao as the Olugbon of Orile Igbon.

In a ruling delivered on Monday, Justice K.A. Adedokun struck out the case, citing lack of jurisdiction. The suit was filed by four members of the Akinbola family, who questioned Oba Alao’s selection, appointment, and official approval.

Justice Adedokun ruled that the claimants lacked the legal standing (locus standi) to bring the case and failed to include Surulere Local Government— the body authorized to oversee and approve such traditional appointments—making the suit procedurally flawed.
