The South-South Zonal Working Committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), under the leadership of Chief Dan Osi Orbih, has warned Debo Ologunagba, the Party’s National Publicity Secretary, to stop interfering in the affairs of the South-South zone of the party henceforth.
The Committee, in a statement made available to newsmen in Benin, directed Ologunagba to refrain from interfering with or discussing matters related to the Party’s affairs in the South-South Zone and its respective states.
The warning follows what the Orbih-led exco described as a reckless statement attributed to Ologunagba, in which he criticized Governors Pastor Umo Eno and Elder Sheriff Oborevwori of Akwa Ibom and Delta States, respectively, for their open declaration of support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressive Congress in the 2027 general elections.
“We are asking Ologunagba to stay away from Edo PDP and his unsolicited unholy comments during this Holy Week.”
In the statement signed on the committee’s behalf by the Zonal Publicity Secretary, Prince Etim Isong, the Zonal leadership noted that Mr. Ologunagba has failed to differentiate between expressing personal opinion and officially speaking on behalf of the People’s Democratic Party.
The zonal working committee stressed that such a character is unfit to hold the sacred office of the National Publicity Secretary of the Party.
“The Party in the South-South Zone is tired of the constant embarrassing and shameful conduct of this Debo Ologunagba and wishes him to desist, forthwith, from interfering, discussing, or issuing any statements regarding issues concerning or relating to the Party in the South-South Zone or any of its States. Ignoring this warning will attract severe consequences, the Zonal leadership warned.
The Party’s leadership also emphasized that Ologunagba’s tendency to make unguarded statements has contributed to the many avoidable crises the Party has faced.
“His unprofessional conduct is seen as a significant factor in the PDP’s ongoing struggles to regain power in Ondo State.
“Furthermore, the Zonal leadership firmly stated that acts of disrespect towards leaders of the Party in the South South will not be tolerated from Ologunagba or anyone else”.
They reiterated that Ologunagba’s carelessness has also led to affronts demonstrated by the Party’s Governors’ Forum toward the nation’s apex Court regarding recent pronouncements concerning the office of the National Secretary of the Party.
“In light of these issues, the South South Zonal Working Committee further reiterates that Ologunagba is unfit to speak for the Party in matters affecting its interests in this zone,” the working committee further declared.
