Geoffrey Shyam Stirling, the brother of former Real Housewives of Orange County star Lydia McLaughlin, was fatally shot by police during a traffic stop in Newport Beach, California. The incident occurred Thursday night along the Pacific Coast Highway, roughly 50 miles south of Los Angeles.
According to law enforcement sources, Stirling was riding a motorcycle when officers pulled him over. He allegedly became uncooperative during the stop, leading to at least one officer opening fire. Stirling was transported to a hospital, where he later died. Authorities confirmed that no officers were injured in the incident.
The California Attorney General’s Office has initiated an independent investigation into the shooting to determine the circumstances surrounding the deadly encounter.
In a statement released Friday, April 18, McLaughlin expressed her grief over her brother’s death. “My family and I are devastated by the loss of my brother. We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support from friends, family, and the community. We kindly ask for privacy as we mourn.”
Lydia McLaughlin appeared on Season 8 and Season 12 of Real Housewives of Orange County, alongside cast members including Vicki Gunvalson, Tamra Judge, Gretchen Rossi, Alexis Bellino, and Heather Dubrow. Stirling was 45 years old.
