UTME: Ekiti Cancels Sanitation Day Lockdown

The Ekiti State Government has announced that there will be no restriction on movement during the statewide environmental sanitation exercise scheduled for Saturday, April 26, 2025.

This decision was made to ensure smooth movement for candidates and officials involved in the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

“Due to the ongoing JAMB examination, there will be no restriction on human and vehicular movement to allow free movement of candidates and officials,” the government stated in a public announcement on Friday.

Despite lifting the restrictions, the government urged residents across all 16 Local Government Areas to fully participate in the sanitation exercise, which will hold from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Citizens are encouraged to clean their surroundings, including public drains, markets, and open spaces, to promote public health and environmental hygiene.

Environmental Health Officers, NGOs, and security agencies will be deployed statewide to monitor compliance. Mobile courts will also be in operation to handle violations of sanitation laws.

The statement concluded with a call for collective action: “Let us remain committed to building a cleaner and healthier Ekiti State.”
