Driver escapes death after car overturned in Lagos

A driver was fortunate to escape death after his vehicle overturned in the Alakija area of Mile 2, Lagos State, on Wednesday, September 18.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority spokesperson, Adebayo Taofiq, confirmed the incident in a statement shared on X.

He said the accident occurred when the vehicle veered off the road at high speed, reportedly due to brake failure.

Taofiq said the swift response of LASTMA officials and other security agencies at the scene led to the rescue of the driver, who escaped the accident without injury.

“The accident occurred after the vehicle veered off the road at high speed due to brake failure.

“LASTMA’s quick intervention, in collaboration with security agencies, helped prevent what could have been a catastrophic situation,” Taofiq said.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, urged motorists to adhere to speed limits and ensure their vehicles are properly maintained before heading onto the road.
