Four young men were banished for life from a community in Benin, Nigeria, after allegedly being caught engaging in a same-sex relationship—an act deemed unlawful in the country.
The local community, enraged by the situation, gathered to publicly shame the boys before ordering them never to return. An angry mob warned, “Don’t come to Upper again,” as the accused were forced into a tricycle headed for an unknown destination. Despite their fury, the community spared their lives, choosing exile as a form of punishment instead.
Eyewitnesses described the boys as sitting dejectedly in the tricycle, visibly ashamed as they departed. The incident has sparked heated reactions online.
Netizens shared mixed views on the matter. Some expressed support for the community’s decision, with one comment reading, “Na so e suppose be now! But una no suppose allow them enter the same keke! Them fit go start family now for new location.”
Others criticized the focus on such issues, saying, “Nigerians getting triggered over inconsequential issues.”
Shameful act.good for them.
