Real Madrid superstar Vinícius Jr has been named FIFA’s Best Men’s Player for 2024, following a remarkable year that included multiple trophies and standout performances.
The Brazilian forward had an exceptional 2023-24 season, winning the Champions League and La Liga titles under Carlo Ancelotti, along with the Spanish and European Super Cups. Vinícius contributed 24 goals and 11 assists, including a pivotal goal in the Champions League final and a hat-trick against Barcelona in the domestic Super Cup.
His award follows controversy surrounding the Ballon d’Or ceremony in October, which he and Real Madrid opted to boycott after learning that Manchester City’s Rodri would win the prize.
Reflecting on his journey, Vinícius shared: “It felt impossible for me to stand here on this stage. I came from a small place, surrounded by poverty and crime. Now, I’m here.”
Rodri placed second in FIFA’s voting, while Vinícius’s Real Madrid teammate Jude Bellingham took
