President Tinubu Orders Military to Eradicate Banditry by 2025 – Matawalle

Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu has tasked the Nigerian military with ending banditry by 2025, according to Bello Mohammed Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defense.

Speaking on Saturday, December 21, at his Gusau residence during a meeting with members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Matawalle affirmed the military’s dedication to implementing the President’s directive. He highlighted plans to intensify operations to combat the persistent threat.

The former governor of Zamfara State revealed that the Federal Government has completed arrangements to deploy additional troops and advanced military equipment to the North-West, a region heavily affected by banditry.

Matawalle also expressed concern about informants aiding bandit groups, describing it as a significant obstacle in defeating the menace. “The Federal Government and military chiefs are deeply troubled by the role of informants in supporting the bandits. This remains a major challenge,” he said.

The government’s renewed focus on security reflects its commitment to restoring peace and stability in the region.
