The Federal Government has announced Wednesday, December 25, Thursday, December 26, 2024, and Wednesday, January 1, 2025, as public holidays in celebration of Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day respectively.
In a statement issued on Monday, December 23, in Abuja, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, disclosed that the declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.
The minister extended warm festive greetings to Nigerians and encouraged everyone to embrace the values of love, peace, and unity that the season embodies. He highlighted the importance of fostering harmony and strengthening bonds within families and communities during this period.
“The Christmas season is a time for both spiritual reflection and national renewal. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, let us show kindness and extend goodwill to one another, regardless of our differences,” Dr. Tunji-Ojo remarked.
The Minister also urged Nigerians to remain committed to the nation’s peace, unity, and progress, which are critical to its development. He reassured citizens of the Federal Government’s dedication to ensuring peace, security, and prosperity across the country.
Concluding his message, Dr. Tunji-Ojo expressed optimism about the New Year, aligning it with President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” for a brighter and more prosperous Nigeria.
