Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Takes Charge as Besiktas Coach Four Years After Manchester United Exit

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been appointed the new head coach of Turkish giants Besiktas, marking his return to football management after a four-year hiatus since leaving Manchester United in 2021.

The surprising announcement was made on X, with Besiktas posting a simple yet enthusiastic message: “Ole, Ole, Ole,” accompanied by a photo of Solskjaer proudly donning a Besiktas scarf.

In his first interview, Solskjaer shared his excitement:

“It’s great to be here. It’s very nice to see so many people who care about this fantastic football club. I’ve had a very nice first meeting with the members of the board. I’m really looking forward to this – it’s fantastic to be in this beautiful city.”

Solskjaer replaces former Arsenal star Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who was dismissed last month. The Norwegian is set to observe Besiktas’ next match against Samsunspor this weekend from the stands.

During his tenure at Manchester United, Solskjaer guided the club to a Premier League second-place finish and reached the Europa League final. Now, he takes on a new challenge in Istanbul, aiming to bring success to the passionate supporters of Besiktas.
