Carlo Ancelotti to Depart Real Madrid at Season’s End

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti is set to leave the club at the end of the current season, according to reports from Spanish radio station Onda Cero on Monday. The news, sourced anonymously, suggests the legendary Italian manager believes his tenure with the Blancos has reached its natural conclusion.

Ancelotti, widely regarded as the most successful coach in Real Madrid’s storied history, reportedly hopes the club will respect his decision as he prepares to step away.

Speculation surrounding his departure isn’t new. Last year, rumours linked him to a potential move to the Brazilian national team, with reports indicating the Brazilian Football Federation saw him as the ideal replacement for Tite.

As Real Madrid plans for the future, Onda Cero has named former Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso as the frontrunner to succeed Ancelotti. Alonso has impressed with his managerial feats at Bayer Leverkusen, even turning down an approach from Liverpool last summer to continue his work in Germany.

Ancelotti, 66, returned to Real Madrid in 2021 for his second spell at the club, where he added two Champions League titles to his illustrious resume, bringing his total at the Santiago Bernabéu to three. He also secured two La Liga titles during his tenure.
