The Jigawa State Government has allocated N4.8 billion for its 2025 Ramadan Feeding Programme, aimed at supporting vulnerable residents during the holy month. The announcement was made by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Mr. Sagir Musa, during a press briefing on Monday evening following a meeting of the State Executive Council at the Government House in Dutse.
Musa explained that the initiative would be funded jointly by the state and local governments, with the state contributing 55% and the local governments covering the remaining 45%. The number of feeding centres has been increased from 609 last year to 630, each providing three meals per person. The approved meal package includes kunu, kosai, and jollof rice for 300 beneficiaries per centre.
In addition to the feeding programme, the council also approved the revitalization of 114 Primary Health Care Centres across the state. The N9.7 billion project, aimed at strengthening healthcare services, is part of the World Bank-supported Immunization Plus and Malaria Progress programme. Musa highlighted that this initiative underscores the government’s commitment to improving health and well-being in Jigawa.
