LAW Enforcement Officials are actively searching for a suspect accused of sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl at a Staten Island residence last week.
Dominique Giles, 30, allegedly perpetrated the disturbing crime against the child, with whom he was familiar, on January 22 at a home near Richmond Terrace and Sharpe Avenue in Port Richmond around 5:38 a.m., according to officials.
Following the incident, the suspect fled the scene on foot, police reported. The young victim received medical attention at Richmond University Medical Center for evaluation. Giles has a prior arrest record, having been taken into custody in April for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, including choking and physically harming her, and damaging her phone in the Brighton Heights neighborhood of Staten Island.
He was subsequently charged with felony criminal mischief and assault, according to police. In an effort to facilitate the suspect’s capture, the NYPD released his photograph on Wednesday night. At the time of his last sighting, Giles was wearing a black hooded jacket, authorities stated.
