To prevent the spread of cholera in Bomadi Local Government Area, Delta State, Chairman Rawlings Andaye has distributed free medication to all primary healthcare centres across the region. This initiative, which came in advance of any recorded cases, aims to curb the spread of the disease and ensure swift response in case of emergency.
The Supervisory Councillor for Health, Adaka Amameniye, while distributing drugs to Kpakiama Primary Healthcare Centre on Friday, emphasized that the medications were provided free of charge to all healthcare facilities in the area. He commended the council chairman for acting quickly to prevent an outbreak even before any cases were reported locally, and for ensuring free treatment for patients in the event of an emergency.
Chief Matron at Kpakiama Primary Healthcare Centre, Eunice Edonkumoh, also praised the swift response, noting that the distribution of the drugs is ongoing to health facilities across the council area. She urged the community to maintain proper hygiene and take preventive measures to avoid cholera, which is primarily spread through contaminated food and water. Key precautions include boiling drinking water, serving food hot, washing hands regularly, and cleaning fruits before eating
