Thirty passengers have tragically lost their lives in an auto crash that occurred in the Odigbo Local Council Area of Ondo State. The incident took place on Saturday when two commercial buses collided head-on and erupted in flames at the Onipetesi axis along the Ore/Lagos Expressway.
Of the 32 passengers involved, 28 were burned beyond recognition. Two survivors, who were rescued with severe injuries, succumbed to their wounds before reaching the hospital, while two others are currently receiving treatment.
The accident is believed to have been caused by excessive speeding, with initial reports indicating that one of the vehicles was driving against traffic.
The Ondo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Samuel Ibitoye, confirmed the incident and urged drivers to exercise caution, maintain their vehicles, and avoid reckless driving. He also called on passengers to speak out against unsafe driving practices, emphasizing that road safety is a shared responsibility.
