A deadly car bomb exploded on the outskirts of the northern Syrian city of Manbij on Monday, February 3, claiming the lives of at least 19 people and leaving more than a dozen others wounded, according to hospital workers. Several of the injured are in critical condition, and authorities have warned that the death toll could rise.
The attack, which marks the deadliest bombing since rebel forces ousted President Bashar al-Assad in December, has not been claimed by any group as of yet. This explosion also marks the second car bomb attack in Manbij within three days.
On Saturday, an earlier bombing killed four people, including two children and a woman, in the city center. The Syria Civil Defence reported the incident. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based monitoring group, added that the recent blast occurred near a military position, with nine fatalities, including several pro-Turkish fighters.
