Aston Villa Secure Loan Move for Marco Asensio from PSG

Aston Villa have officially signed Spanish international Marco Asensio on loan from Paris Saint-Germain for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.

The 29-year-old attacking midfielder, a three-time UEFA Champions League winner with Real Madrid, becomes Villa’s fourth signing of the January transfer window, following Donyell Malen, Andres Garcia, and Marcus Rashford.

“As soon as I heard about Villa’s interest, I was excited,” Asensio said via the club’s official website. “Unai [Emery] is a coach I’ve known for a while. He’s had a great career, and his football philosophy aligns perfectly with my playing style. He was a key factor in my decision to come here.”

The Spaniard brings a wealth of experience from his time at Real Madrid, where he won three Champions League titles (2016/17, 2017/18, 2021/22), three La Liga crowns, three UEFA Super Cups, four FIFA Club World Cups, and a Copa del Rey.

Since moving to PSG in the summer of 2023, Asensio made 47 appearances and won four major trophies, including the 2023/24 Ligue 1 title. On the international stage, he has been capped 38 times for Spain, featuring in two FIFA World Cups and helping La Roja win the 2023 UEFA Nations League.

Now, Asensio is set to test himself in the Premier League, aiming to make an immediate impact at Villa Park under Emery’s leadership.
