Popular Nigerian music producer Don Jazzy and Afrobeat sensation Wizkid have mended fences after their social media dispute, as seen in a now-viral photo capturing their reunion.
Their fallout began when Wizkid stirred controversy with his remark that “Hip-hop is dead.” Ladipoe, a rapper signed to Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records, responded with a sharp remark:
“Nigerian rappers that survived ‘hip-hop is dead’ watching Afrobeats artists go through their own.”
A fan later brought Ladipoe’s response to Wizkid’s attention, leading Wizkid to fire back:
“Lol, never chatting to anyone signed to an influencer.
Wizkid’s retweets further implied that he was referring to Don Jazzy as merely a social media influencer, sparking heated debates among fans. Many criticized Wizkid for what they saw as a lack of respect toward Don Jazzy, a highly revered figure in the Nigerian music industry.
Following the exchange, Don Jazzy unfollowed Wizkid on social media. However, with their recent public reunion, it seems both stars have put their differences behind them.
