Senate Launches Investigation into General Tchiani’s Allegations Against Nigeria

The Nigerian Senate has ordered a probe into claims made by Niger Republic’s military leader, General Abdourahmane Tchiani, accusing Nigeria of colluding with France to destabilize Niger’s security.

The motion, presented by Senate Committee Chairman on National Security and Intelligence, Shehu Buba, highlights concerns over Tchiani’s allegations implicating Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and former NIA Director-General, Ahmed Rufai, in the purported conspiracy.

The Senate’s Joint Committee on National Security, Intelligence, and Foreign Affairs has been tasked with investigating these claims and will submit a report within four weeks.
