The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has posthumously honored Assistant Superintendent of EFCC, ASE II Aminu Sahabi, who was tragically killed in the line of duty.
Olukoyede made the announcement on Friday, February 7, 2025, during a condolence visit to Sahabi’s family in Sokoto. The officer lost his life on January 17, 2025, in Awka, Anambra State, while attempting to apprehend suspected internet fraudsters.
Expressing the commission’s grief, Olukoyede assured the bereaved family that Sahabi’s sacrifice would not be forgotten and vowed that those responsible for his death would face justice.
In addition to the posthumous bravery award, the EFCC Chairman presented a condolence letter from the EFCC and the Federal Government and confirmed that Sahabi’s benefits had been processed for immediate release to his next of kin.
To honor his legacy, the EFCC has named a building at its academy in Abuja after the late officer.
