Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Saturday inaugurated Amadeus University in Amizi, Ikwuano LGA of Abia State, declaring that education remains the most powerful tool for advancing civilisation.
Speaking at the university’s maiden matriculation ceremony, Akpabio, represented by Senator Austin Akobundu of Abia Central, underscored the transformative power of education, stating that it is the “mightiest weapon in the arsenal of civilisation.” He highlighted education as a beacon that dispels ignorance, fuels innovation, and shapes the destiny of nations.
Addressing the new students, Akpabio urged them to embrace learning with determination, describing them as the hope of Nigeria. He reminded them that challenges will arise but perseverance will lead to greatness, as “it is only the test of fire that makes fine steel.”
On the role of government, Akpabio stressed the imperative of prioritising education, warning that a nation that fails to educate its youth has already sealed its fate. He called for policies that strengthen educational institutions and urged private sector collaboration in advancing intellectual and technological development.
Amadeus University, he noted, was established not just to impart knowledge but to forge leaders who will drive Nigeria’s future. The event marked a significant milestone in the state’s commitment to higher education and national progress.
