Ohanaeze Youth Council President Abducted by Gunmen in Imo State

A yet-to-be-identified group of gunmen, dressed in black and numbering up to seven, has abducted the President of the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, in Imo State.

The President of the Igbo National Council (INC), Chilos Godsent, disclosed the incident in a statement issued on Sunday morning, February 9, 2025. According to him, Igboayaka was forcibly taken at Works Layout, Owerri, by armed assailants who arrived in a Sienna and a Lexus SUV. The abduction occurred around 7 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2025, leaving his family in distress.

Godsent called on the Imo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force to take immediate action to locate Igboayaka and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.

“The Igbo National Council (INC) calls on the leadership of the Nigerian Police Force, Imo State Command, to immediately swing into action, identify the gunmen who forcefully took the President of the Ohanaeze Youth Council, Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, captive, and make their findings public,” the statement read.

As of the time of filing this report, the Imo State Police Command has yet to issue an official response regarding the abduction.
