US Excludes Nigeria, UK, and Other African Nations from 2025 Visa Waiver Programme

US excludes UK, Nigeria, other African countries from visa-free entry for 2025

The United States has officially released the list of eligible countries for its 2025 Visa Waiver Programme (VWP), and notably, Nigeria, and other African nations have been excluded. This follows the implementation of new policy updates regarding visa eligibility and permit privileges, a move linked to former President Donald Trump’s mass deportation measures.

While 40 countries, including those from Europe, Asia, and select Middle Eastern nations, were granted visa-free entry into the US, no African nation made the list. Major US allies such as the United Kingdom were also excluded, though British citizens may still qualify under specific conditions.

The Visa Waiver Programme allows citizens of participating countries to visit the US for up to 90 days for tourism or business without needing a visa, provided they have a valid Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval. For those who prefer a visa, applications for visitor visas remain an option.
