The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has announced an increase in the daily Ration Cash Allowance (RCA) for Nigerian troops, doubling it from N1,500 to N3,000 per month, effective from the end of March.

Speaking at the 81 Division’s 9 Brigade parade ground in Ikeja Cantonment, Lagos, Oluyede emphasized that soldiers’ welfare remains a top priority. Alongside the RCA increase, he introduced a new financial initiative—a low-interest loan scheme with a 3% interest rate, significantly lower than conventional bank rates.

The COAS also provided updates on the Nigerian Army Housing Scheme, highlighting ongoing and upcoming projects in Abuja, Ibadan, Jos, Port Harcourt, Owerri, and Akwa Ibom to ensure affordable housing for soldiers. He reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing personnel welfare, calling it a key investment for a better service life.
