Nollywood actress and producer Funke Akindele has credited her success to hard work, dedication, and divine favor, declaring that no one but God made her a star.
Speaking at the Media Independent Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MIPAN) 2025 Media Sales Conference in Lagos, Akindele recounted how her career took off with the release of Jenifa in 2009. However, she acknowledged that veteran singer D’banj played a key role in encouraging her to expand the Jenifa brand.
Akindele, who rose to fame with the sitcom I Need to Know (1998-2002), remains Nigeria’s highest-grossing movie producer, cementing her place as a powerhouse in the film industry.
