Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, has expressed that he fears nothing, emphasizing that the worst outcome would be leaving office. This statement came on March 3, just days after the Supreme Court reinstated 27 members of the Rivers State Assembly aligned with former Governor Nyesom Wike.
Fubara acknowledged how the Supreme Court’s ruling had dampened the spirits of many Rivers residents but urged them to prepare for the challenges ahead. Speaking during the inauguration of the reconstructed Rivers State Government House Staff Quarters, he reminded the public that, although the court’s decision may have unsettled some, they should trust that God will fulfill His purpose.
“Our trust is not in anyone but God,” he stated. “I thank you for your support, and I promise that I will continue to stand by you. I will lead with honor, respect, and integrity. When I leave office, I want to be able to defend my actions with pride, even 20 or 30 years from now. I won’t disappoint you.”
Governor Fubara further remarked, “While I don’t advocate for violence, I will take decisive action when the time comes. Let me be clear: I am not afraid of anything. The worst that can happen is leaving office, but that won’t stop me from existing. I am unbothered by that. What matters is doing the right thing, and I assure you, at the right time, we will speak out. Stay strong, especially our youths, and know that we will stand firm when the time is right.”
