Trudeau Vows Canada Will Not Back Down in Trade Dispute with U.S.

"This is a very dumb thing to do" Candian PM Trudeau slams Trump over decision to impose 25 per cent tariffs on nearly all Canadian exports

Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, has made it clear that the country will not relent in its escalating trade conflict with the United States, which officially began on March 4. In a national address, Trudeau emphasized his government’s commitment to retaliating with countermeasures following the U.S. imposition of 25% tariffs on most Canadian exports, excluding some energy products.

Trudeau criticized the tariffs as unjustified and warned that Canada would not back down from the fight, regardless of the challenges ahead. He expressed confidence in using every available tool to support Canadians affected by the tariffs.

While addressing U.S. citizens, Trudeau dismissed U.S. President Donald Trump’s claims about border security, calling them “completely bogus.” He also criticized the trade war, warning that it would harm people on both sides of the border and play into the hands of adversaries.
