Gunmen have reportedly abducted seven people, including women and children, in Anchuna village, located in the Ikulu Chiefdom of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, Kaduna State. The attack occurred on the night of Wednesday, March 5.
The armed assailants stormed the village in large numbers, firing indiscriminately before forcibly taking their victims. Samuel Kukah, a resident of the area and a family member of the renowned cleric, Bishop Hassan Kukah, confirmed the incident to Daily Trust. He shared that his younger brother, Ishaya Kukah, was among those abducted.
“My brother, Ishaya, was the only male among the victims; the rest were women and children. The attack began around 11pm,” Kukah stated. He added that there has been no communication from the kidnappers regarding a ransom demand.
“We are praying for their safety while we await any updates,” he said, urging security forces to act swiftly to ensure the safe return of the victims. He also emphasized that the majority of those abducted were vulnerable members of the community.
