American singer, Mariah Carey who is widely regarded as one of the most successful singers in the world has confirmed that her mother, Patricia, and sister, Alison, both passed away on the same day last weekend.
The multiple Grammy-winning singer disclosed this in a statement on Monday, but did not share the causes of death for either women or the specific day.
“My heart is broken that I have lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day. I was blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed,” Carey said.
The loss of Patricia and Alison comes more than two decades after the death of Carey’s father, Alfred, who passed away in 2002 from cancer at the age of 72.
